CORVISART (Jean-Nicolas). 1755-1821. Personal... - Lot 70 - FW Auction
CORVISART (Jean-Nicolas). 1755-1821. Personal doctor of the Emperor Napoleon. aut. letter signed (to his daughters). S.l., May 4, 1816. 4 pp. in-8 bi-leaflet. Affectionate and familiar letter of the former personal physician of the Emperor, whose beginning gives the tone: Parbleu, my beautiful ladies, with all your good friendship for me, you have the devil's nastiness! You know that spelling mistakes make me sick to death, and you accuse me of them! (...) And then you are not lacking in the absent-mindedness of forgetting letters in words (...). Let us begin with Mlle Fanny: how devilish! she wants to make a parenthesis, but she eats half of it... it's only a blunder. But what will she say to this word? I'm going to apologize for it. It is worthy of a place in Molière's Femmes of Molière, because she wanted to put some thought into it (...). He continues with Elisa, reproaching her for having writing two silly things in three lines, before giving news of her, announcing that she had built a small dovecote at La Garenne, etc.
