Provenance: This set is a unique creation that was commissioned from Jacques Tissinier especially to decorate the showroom of the large transport company in the Paris region, Monestier, in the 1970s. Acquired directly from his heirs, these pieces are infinitely rarer than the series produced by Jacques Tissinier for Prisunic. Jacques Tissinier is a painter who studied at the Toulouse School of Fine Arts, the Paris School of Decorative Arts and then at the Paris School of Fine Arts. He quickly became interested in the problem of the limits of the painting and its integration in the public space. Thus, from 1965 onwards, he moved from painting to signage with the aim of putting painting in the street, that is "Tissignalisation". He is interested in the technique of enamel and it is with the help of the enamel factory of Jean Neuhaus, a road sign maker, that he creates a bus shelter which will be exhibited in 1969 at the Maison de la Radio and then at the A.R.C. of the Museum of Modern Art in 1970. In 1968, as part of the redevelopment of the Languedoc-Roussillon coastline, he designed the signage and bus shelters of Port Barcarès in oven-enamelled steel in primary colours blue, red and white with simplified graphics. The Port Barcarès projects and the exhibition at the ARC established the reputation of Jacques Tissinier who was then called by Prisunic, always on the lookout for innovative figures in contemporary creation. About ten pieces made by Jacques Tissinier, including furniture for Prisunic, can be seen at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. Jean Neuhaus' enamel factory, located in Béhobie in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, specialises in the manufacture of panels known as Vitracier, an alloy born from the fusion of enamel on steel. The result is a stainless and very resistant material that can be used to make cladding panels used in construction for signage, protection or decoration.
