DEMARQUET FRERES, goldsmith in Paris, rue des gravilliers, 1868-1890. Silver chalice with vermeil enhancement. It consists of a cup and an openwork overcup decorated with water leaves and foliage, with six medallions applied in polychrome enamel representing Christ (small chip in the enamel), the Virgin, St. Joseph alternated by fleurons. The knot engraved with foliage is added with six coloured glass cabochons imitating amethyst and aquamarine. The poly-lobed foot with engraved decoration of vine shoots has six medallions applied in polychrome enamel representing the Crucifixion, Saint Peter (small accident to the enamel), Saint Louis alternated by fleurons. Gross weight: 578g. H: 26cm. Very small dents on the base of the foot. Wear to the gilding. A silver-gilt paten engraved on the reverse side with a radiating cross. Diameter: 15,3cm. Weight: 137g. Slight dent on the hoop. Black leather case damaged at the bottom.
