After Veronese. Leda and the Swan. Engraved by Augustin de Saint-Aubin (1736-1807) and finished by Romanet and designed by Vandenberg; called "Jupiter and Leda" of the gallery of SAS monseigneur the Duke of Orleans. Work of the end of the 18th century. 47,5 x 33,5 cm. Composition representing Leda who joins forces with Jupiter transformed into a swan to deceive the surveillance of his wife Juno. The original work of Veronese was part of the collections of the Duke of Orleans at the end of the 18th century. collections of the Duke of Orleans, catalogued in an edited collection, from which our engraving was taken. The original work disappeared in the bombing of Dresden during the Second World War. A copy of the XVIth century is in the Fesch museum in Ajaccio and a similar engraving, before the letter, is in the Petit-Palais museum in Paris.
