Exceptional pair of vases in blown crystal... - Lot 232 - FW Auction
Exceptional pair of vases in blown crystal of Saint-Louis of ruby red color with japanese decoration painted in gold and polychrome enamels silver, white and blue representing on one face cranes in full flight surrounded by branches of Japanese Maple and on the other face, always these same branches with butterflies and medallions discovering a lake landscape composed of reeds and trees. Because of their rarity and exceptional quality, this pair of vases was probably made to be presented at the 1878 World's Fair in Paris. Each piece is signed in gold from the Saint-Louis crystal factory under its base and one of the two pieces bears the original paper label. Circa 1880. Dimensions: Height: 24 cm; Width: 16 cm; Depth: 11 cm Some lacks of gilding and slight wear of the gold on the neck of the two vases.
